The once sturdy comedic subgenre we'll call the Hapless Buddies (see Abbott and Costello, Hope and Crosby, Martin and Lewis) has been unceremoniously dispatched by Dude, Where's My Car?an insipid shaggy car tale whose sole laugh is derived from a cannabis smoking canine. (Spoiler alert: Evil space babes are vanquished, titular vehicle is recovered, dudes learn a lesson.) The coup de grace is administered via the DVD's scabrous commentary track, in which the two stars and the film's director ruminate on a number of cinematic topics, including the ethics of bedding extras in your trailer.
