SHARE AND SHARE ALIKE Cruise and the Crowes (Cameron not Russell) are now in Fiji -- but who isn't?

WAKAYA WACKINESS Looks like Tom Cruise and Nicole Kidman are splitting everything down the middle, including their vacation time. During happier times last year, the couple had booked a two-week vacation at Fiji's Wakaya Club. Of course, Kidman and their two kids took the first half of the booked time a week ago. Cruise is there now, with an entourage that reportedly includes his ''Jerry Maguire'' and ''Vanilla Sky'' director Cameron Crowe, Heart guitarist Nancy Wilson (Mrs. Crowe), and Cruise's sister, but not ''Vanilla Sky'' costar Penélope Cruz, whom Cruise has taken on a couple of dates since his 39th birthday party on July 6. Confusing matters was the a visit by Kidman's Aussie pal Russell Crowe to the island resort that overlapped with her stay, but Crowe was apparently there with his date, fellow Aussie and ''La Femme Nikita'' star Peta Wilson.

STILL EVOLVING It's days before the press junket, a few days more before the film's release, and studio brass are nervous because even they haven't seen the completed print of their hoped-for sci-fi blockbuster. That's the scenario in ''America's Sweethearts,'' but it's also what's happening now at 20th Century Fox with ''Planet of the Apes.'' The film was supposed to screen for press and exhibitors yesterday, anticipating its release next Friday, but it's not finished yet. In addition to finishing the editing and special effects work, Tim Burton was reportedly shooting major sequences, like a spacecraft crash, as recently as two weeks ago. Fox is hoping to screen the finished film on Friday, in time for the junket press to see it. But maybe Fox needn't go ape over the last-minute monkeying around. Last year, the studio's ''X-Men'' also finished down to the wire and still became a mutant hit.

MIAMI SOUND MACHINE Colombian rocker Juanes earned six Latin Grammy nominations yesterday, including record of the year, song of the year, album of the year, and best new artist. Spanish artist Alejandro Sanz followed with five nods. Brazilian stars Gilberto Gil and Caetano Veloso were among those who earned three nominations. Christina Aguilera got two nominations, including one for record of the year for ''Pero Me Acuerdo de Ti'' (''But I Remember You''). The awards will be handed out September 11 in Miami.

LEGAL BRIEFS Next time Sean Combs goes to Miami, he may just want to rent a limo. Miami police want to question Puffy about a reckless driving incident in the early morning hours of June 9. They say they asked him to move a silver 2001 Ferrari (which belonged to producer Dallas Austin) from in front of a nightclub because it was blocking traffic. After initially balking, he jumped in the car and sped off, nearly hitting a pedestrian and running a red light, police say. Then he allegedly pulled up to a strip club, abandoned the car with the vehicle running, and dashed inside, evading police through the back door. The cops arrested his passenger, Jovar Andrews (who says he's a cousin of singer Lenny Kravitz), for possession of marijuana after finding a joint in the ashtray, though Andrews' lawyer says the pot wasn't his client's. Combs could face misdemeanor charges in the incident, his second run-in with Miami police over an alleged traffic violation. In April, he was pulled over for making an illegal lane change on a rented scooter and cited for driving with a suspended license, but charges were dropped when he proved his New York license had been renewed....

Sony Music is suing the Dixie Chicks for breach of contract, saying their current attempt to leave the label over what they claim is Sony's underpayment of royalties is a ''sham'' pretext to escape from their contract. The company says the band's royalty claims are baseless and wants the court to bar the trio from signing to another label....

TV producers know how to wield the breach-of-contract threat, too. That's how Warner Bros. Television got the supporting cast of ''The West Wing'' to end their walkout on Monday, though the actors are still demanding a bigger raise than the Warner Bros. offer. Also on Monday, 20th Century Fox, which produces ''Roswell,'' threatened legal action against at least one of the show's male costars, Brendan Fehr and Jason Behr, for failing to appear with the rest of the cast at the Television Critics Association Press Tour in Pasadena. E! Online obtained a copy of a Fox letter, said to be addressed to Fehr, which reads in part, ''''Make no mistake, such a cavalier disregard of your documented commitments to the series will not be tolerated.'' Fehr's excuse: He was in his native Canada, shooting public service announcements about sexual abuse. Behr also cited a scheduling conflict.

TV RATINGS NBC won the week, thanks to its Darwinian slate of prime-time shows, including Saturday's broadcast of ''Jurassic Park,'' reality show ''Fear Factor,'' and the competitive ''Weakest Link.'' The week's top show, however, was the more genteel contest of baseball's All-Star Game on Fox, which hit home with 16.03 million viewers. According to Nielsen, NBC averaged 8.3 million viewers for the week, followed by CBS (8 million), ABC (7.5 million), Fox (7.2 million), UPN (3.1 million), and the WB (2.2 million).

CAAN JOB Like father, like Sonny. Scott Caan (''Gone in 60 Seconds'') and Paul Walker (''The Fast and the Furious'') may costar in ''Wanna-Be,'' a docudrama about second-generation mobsters, which Limp Bizkit frontman Fred Durst may direct. That's an apt role for Caan, since dad James Caan co-starred in ''The Godfather.'' Tip for Scott: Buy an EZ Pass so you don't have to slow down at the tollbooth.

PASSING NOTES Katharine Graham the media mogul who once ran The Washington Post and Newsweek, died yesterday at 84 in Boise, Idaho, from head injuries sustained Saturday in a fall. Under her leadership, the Post became one of America's top newspapers, notably for its groundbreaking investigative reporting on Watergate and its courageous coverage of the Pentagon Papers. Graham was a Pulitzer Prize-winning author herself, having won the award for her 1998 autobiography, ''Personal History.''
