Even if you never bought Moby's 1999 album, ''Play,'' you've probably heard every track. After all, its inventive mixes have helped advertisers hawk everything from cars to liquor. Unfortunately, the endless commercials got more airtime than the electronic innovator's own visual accompaniment. The centerpiece of

MobyPlay the DVD

-- an expansive collection of Moby's odds and ends -- is the lush, arty videos that never reached heavy rotation on ''TRL'' centric MTV.

Directors Barnaby and Scott envisage ''Find My Baby'' as the hysterical tale of a toddler rock band who bicker with management and trash hotel rooms. Mike Mills' take on ''Run On'' used an ingenious reverse plotline more than a year before ''Memento'' had its moment. A camcorder diary of Moby's 19 month world tour finds the wry DJ slipping into Scottish, French, German, and Southern accents with equal ease, conducting three mock interviews with himself, and manipulating a hilarious fish hand puppet. Also included are a series of remixes of ''Play'''s tracks and a live concert from British TV. Taken as a whole, this DVD shows Moby to be the rare DJ who is as compelling to watch as he is to hear.
