A dotcom film faces the economic slowdown | com_l
SISTER ACT Kinski and Sheridan hope that ''.com For Murder'' won't go the way of other dotcoms
.com for Murder: Rebecca Bausher

The movie ''.com For Murder'' was born during the Internet boom. But now that the dot-economy is dead, is ''Murder'''s life at risk? The $11 million thriller, starring Nastassja Kinski, Nicollette Sheridan, and rockers Roger Daltrey and Huey Lewis, follows two sisters (Kinski and Sheridan) who prowl the Net for kicks. They stumble upon a killer (Jeffery Dean) with a penchant for live-murder cams and a knack for luring unsuspecting dames to his website. From the looks of the bare-chested babes on the site, the film is stocked with as much silicone as silicon. But that's all part of the movie's Peeping Tom plot, says Sheridan: ''Now voyeurs are the ones being watched.'' Not exactly a new theme, but director-producer Nico Mastorakis (''Blind Date'') is still bullish on his film's prospects. ''This is a classical thriller,'' he says. ''Even Internet-illiterate people will understand this story.'' At least that's what he's banking on as he prepares to screen the film for distributors in September. Otherwise, ''.com for Murder'' could become yet another Internet casualty.
