Details Release Date: Aug 28, 2001; Lead Performance: Krayzie Bone; Genres: Hip-Hop/Rap, R&B

It was bound to happen: After 15 years, gangsta rap has spawned its first adult contemporary album. On Thug on Da Line, Krayzie melds his precision, rapid-fire rhymes, and delicately sung choruses with expansive R&B tracks that groove like a ghettoized Neville Brothers tune. Rest assured, references to gats and thugs abound, but most often they are contextualized into tales of longing and regret. Who would have thought that mature, mellifluous music like this would come from someone with the words ''Krayzie'' and ''Bone'' in his name?
