Anne HathawayANNE HATHAWAY
AGE 18
WHERE YOU'VE SEEN HER In Garry Marshall's ''The Princess Diaries'' as 15-year-old Mia Thermopolis, a geek-turned-blue-blooded beauty and future queen of (fictional) Genovia.
HOW SHE GOT THE PART After auditioning for Marshall, casting directors, and Disney suits, Hathaway says, ''I ran to the parking lot -- I thought I was going to be sick.'' Mia-like moments aside, she says she felt ''destined'' for the role.
QUEEN OF HEARTS Julie Andrews, who plays the grandmother who helps transform Mia, took Hathaway -- a fan of the Fair Lady since age 3 -- under her wing off screen as well. ''She has the best sense of humor,'' notes Hathaway. ''It's kind of bawdy.''
DRAMATIC DEBUT The Brooklyn native and college sophomore played a troubled teen on Fox's short-lived 1999 series ''Get Real.''
ALL IN THE FAMILY A trained soprano, Hathaway is the daughter of former ''Les Misérables'' actress Kate McCauley.
CLASS CLOWN Mia's klutziness wasn't a stretch: ''I'm naturally clumsy. I was at breakfast the other day and broke a few plates.''
