Rounding out the top 10 are Universal Music Group CEO Doug Morris at No. 6 (thanks to U2, Jay-Z, Nelly, and Sum 41); Paramount honchos Sherry Lansing and Jonathan L. Dolgen (''Save the Last Dance,'' ''Tomb Raider'') at No. 7; talk show goddess/ book club dictator/ magazine founder/ producer Oprah Winfrey at No. 8; divorced-but-still-standing tall superstar Tom Cruise at No. 9; and HBO Jeff Bewkes and Chris Albrecht (''The Sopranos,'' ''Six Feet Under'') at No. 10.
A number of stars absent from last year's Power List are prominent on this year's, including ''Today'' show coanchor Katie Couric at No. 11, Denzel Washington at No. 39, Nicole Kidman at No. 46, director Ang Lee (''Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon'') at No. 61, and Jackie Chan at No. 70.
And it's easier to lose showbiz clout than gain it, as EW's list of falling stars shows. Among the fallen: Napster creator Shawn Fanning (whose legally crippled invention's future is uncertain); the entire ''Dawson's Creek'' cast (whose attempts to move from the WB to the big screen have so far failed); and the Backstreet Boys (who faced slowing CD and ticket sales, as well as a member in rehab). But fear not, teen pop lovers -- Britney Spears and 'N Sync are hanging in at No. 38.
