Eulogizing his late grandmother and spitting out genuinely poetic and introspective rhymes about his chaotic life, hip-hop's most intense rapper exhibits growth and honesty on his fourth album. Alas, he's undercut by an equal amount of what he calls ''still the same s---'': undistinguished beats, bank-account boasts, and R&B hooks that seem incongruously grafted on for hit potential. Next time, X, how about an a cappella disc?
