REEL DEAL Christian Slater -- remember him? -- will star in ''Bounty Killer,'' written by action screenwriter Jonathan Hensleigh (''Die Hard with a Vengeance''), who will also make his directing debut. Shooting starts in February.

TUBE TALK Looks like TV spy Jennifer Garner of ''Alias'' won't be the only young woman on ABC working for shady Washington types. ''The Last Castle'' director Rod Lurie is developing a drama pilot for ABC, which he would write and direct, that will bring him back to Capitol Hill, setting of his 2000 feature ''The Contender.'' Tentatively titled ''The Beltway,'' it would focus on a young woman who gets a job as a congressional staffer. Let's hope she doesn't have an affair with her boss, then vanish mysteriously....

Good news for Bruce Helford: The ''Drew Carey Show'' producer is planning an '80s flashback episode, which will feature young actors playing the characters in their high school days, which could turn into its own ABC series. Also, the WB has committed to a full season of Helford's ''Nikki.''

The WB has also given a full-season commitment to new sitcom ''Off Centre.'' However, its Sunday night partner, Bill Bellamy's ''Men, Women & Dogs,'' is being buried in the backyard after its 13-episode run, if not sooner....

Other TV news: ''America: A Tribute to Heroes,'' the Sept. 22 concert/telethon, will be available on CD, DVD, and VHS on Dec. 4, with proceeds going to the September 11th Fund....
