HITCHING POST Conan O'Brien, who's been jokingly apologizing for the quality of his late night talk show for nine seasons, did the same on Saturday afternoon at his wedding. ''Sorry about the rain,'' he said as he and new bride Liza Powel emerged under an umbrella from Seattle's St. James Cathedral. O'Brien met Powel, a Seattle ad executive, when she appeared two years ago on his show in a skit about advertising. The two became engaged in July. Officiating at the wedding was the comedian's Harvard roommate, the Rev. Paul O'Brien (no relation). Attending the private ceremony were ''Late Night'' staffers and O'Brien's old pal from their days in the Groundlings comedy troupe, Lisa Kudrow. It's the first marriage for O'Brien, 38....
Getting unhitched are Michael Crichton and his wife of 14 years, Anne-Marie Martin. They separated last summer, and last week, the 59-year-old ''Jurassic Park'' author filed for divorce. The couple have a daughter, and they plan to share custody.
BIRTH DAY Chazz Palminteri and wife Gianna enjoyed a special Christmas present: daughter Gabriella Rose, a 6-pound, 14-ounce stocking stuffer. She joins brother Dante Lorenzo, age 6.
