REEL DEAL Nicole Kidman and Jim Carrey's ghostly romantic comedy has been shelved. The project, for writer/director Gary Ross (''Big,'' ''Pleasantville''), apparently fell victim to the stars' busy schedules. Kidman has ''The Human Stain'' with Anthony Hopkins and Gary Sinise coming up as soon as she finishes shooting ''Dogville'' for Lars von Trier (''Dancer in the Dark,''), while Carrey has ''Eternal Sunshine'' coming up. The stars may yet come together to revive the project in the fall.

TROPHY TIME Coming a bit late to the party, the Chicago Film Critics Association has announced its nominations for its movie awards, with ''A Beautiful Mind'' leading the pack with six nominations, including best picture, best director (Ron Howard) and best actor (Russell Crowe). Earning five nods apiece were ''In the Bedroom'' and ''Mulholland Drive,'' which both received nominations for best picture, best director (Todd Field for ''Bedroom''; David Lynch for ''Drive'') and best actress (Sissy Spacek and Naomi Watts, respectively.) Other best picture nominees were ''The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring,'' and Richard Linklater's animated ''Waking Life.'' The winners will be named at a press conference Feb. 25, well after the Golden Globes have been presented and the Oscar nominations have been announced.
