Eminem in ''8 Mile'' (July)

Character name Jimmy Smith, Jr.
Dyes hair brown? Word.
The story Eminem plays an aspiring rapper struggling on the gritty streets of Detroit (his real-life hometown). He fights with his mom (Kim Basinger), hangs with his girl (Brittany Murphy), and tries to figure out where his life is going. The movie's title comes from Detroit's 8 Mile Road, which is said to separate black and white neighborhoods.
Ad Tagline ''If the streets had a voice, this is the story they would tell.''
Sample Eminem dialogue ''Ever wonder at what point you gotta stop living up here [points to head], and start living down here [points to heart]?''
Soundtrack album Details are still sketchy, but it's due in the summer and is set to feature new Eminem songs.
Movie's trading price on the Hollywood Stock Exchange $22.50
Eminem's own trading price (as a recording artist) $94.02
Prognosis With director Curtis Hanson (''L.A. Confidential'') on board and a more adult tone than either the Britney or Mandy projects, ''8 Mile'' has the best shot at winning crossover moviegoers, Farasati predicts. But as with the similarly controversial Howard Stern's ''Private Parts,'' Eminem's divisive image could limit the movie's appeal.
Walk-outs and/or inappropriate laughter at advance screenings? Too soon to know.
