That's not stopping Mel Gibson's Icon Productions from adapting a U.S. feature version of Potter's ''The Singing Detective,'' about a writer with a horrible skin disease. Francois Girard (''The Red Violin'') will direct, and Gibson hopes his ''Air America'' costar Robert Downey Jr. will star....
