REEL DEALS In the upcoming adaptation of Marvel Comics' ''Daredevil,'' who better to play the blind superhero's archenemy, the bald, giant crimelord known as the Kingpin, than ''The Green Mile'''s Michael Clarke Duncan? The film, which stars Ben Affleck in the title role and is expected to star ''Alias''' Jennifer Garner as his similarly ass-kicking love interest, Elektra, begins shooting March 25.
Bridget Jones isn't the only fictional Londoner who keeps a journal. Jude Law is in talks to star in ''Diary of a Young London Physician,'' David Mamet's adaptation of the Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde story. Up for the female lead is Penélope Cruz. Shooting begins this spring....
''Rollerball'' has rolled over on ads that touted the Feb. 8 film as ''from the filmmakers that brought you 'The Fast and The Furious' and 'Die Hard.''' A U.S. District Court judge has halted the ads with a restraining order, agreeing with Universal's filed complaint that MGM is unfairly capitalizing on the success of Universal's ''F&F'' by implying that ''Rollerball'' co-screenwriter John Pogue deserves principal credit for ''F&F'' (on which Pogue was an uncredited screenwriter and earned a producer credit). An MGM spokesperson downplayed the effect of the ruling on ''Rollerball'''s marketing, saying, ''We believe our ad was 100 percent accurate and appropriate. However, since the injunction only involves a couple of TV and radio spots that were scheduled to end on Friday anyway, we are not going to contest the court's ruling and of course will abide by it.''

This week's Nielsen ratings race came down to who had the stronger Thursday night rerun. An old ''Friends'' was the week's most watched show (23 million viewers), nosing out an old ''CSI: Crime Scene Investigation'' (20.7 million) and giving NBC the slightest edge over CBS for the week (NBC averaged 12.29 million viewers, to CBS' 12.25 million). ABC pulled in 20 million for Sunday's first installment of Stephen King's ''Rose Red,'' making it the week's third most popular show and the most popular TV movie of the season. But that wasn't enough to beat Fox, boosted by Sunday's NFC title game and the debut of ''That '80s Show,'' for third place overall. Fox took that slot with 10.6 million viewers, followed by ABC (9.7 million), UPN (4.5 million), and the WB (3.8 million)....
