All About

Cybill Shepherd

LADY LOVE
I haven't done a love scene since...oh, I can't remember. I have three this season on The L Word. I was intrigued and turned on by the idea [of being with a woman, although] I would have been nervous either way. These scenes remind me of the ones in [1971's] The Last Picture Show because they were never about sex. With The L Word, they're very emotional.

THE NAKED TRUTH
I don't do nudity. The last time I did it was for The Last Picture Show. I don't want to scare anybody.

LATE BLOOMER
My L Word character, Phyllis, is experiencing an empty nest when she realizes she's been a lesbian her whole life, but never fulfilled this part of herself.

HER OWN EMPTY NEST
I wasn't there to experience it when my twins, Ariel and Zach, left for college this fall, since I was going back and forth to Vancouver for The L Word. The strange thing is, I didn't move anything out of their rooms. It's a form of denial.

WHERE'S CYBILL?
All four seasons of Cybill (1995-98) are available on DVD in the U.K. but not here. I had the opportunity to join CBS in a lawsuit against Carsey-Werner [over lost profits], and I deeply regret that I did not.

TABLOID TALK
There was a member of the Cybill crew [gossiping to] The National Enquirer about how I was jealous of Christine Baranski. All that publicity was similar to [the stories about] Bruce Willis and me on Moonlighting and how I was jealous: ''He has a big movie career!'' The press just wanted something to write about. Of course, I would be envious, but that doesn't mean I'm actually jealous.
