Full disclosure: I did not see the Idol premiere this week. Fuller disclosure: I also did not see a single episode of The Daily Show. Fullest disclosure: I heard that the best moments of both shows dovetailed nicely Wednesday night when my friend John Hodgman (I guess that's the actual disclosure I meant to get around to here), the show's ''resident expert'' and the author of The Areas of My Expertise, showed up to offer his hilarious ''American'' analysis with Jon Stewart which we, in much better quality you will surely find soon enough on the Internets, share now here with you. (You can text your votes straight to me.)
