Did groups 2 and 3 get an advantage? What about the people who sang last each week, who also happened to have a lot of screen time?
Alexis Grace (Group one): I really don't know what they were going through. I mean, I loved being in the first group. It was really nice to just get it over with and get it out of the way.
Jorge Nuñez (Group three): You know what, people say we got an advantage, but if anything, it was worse. Because we got to see 19 people go home, so it was really scary.
Danny Gokey (Sang last in group one): Yeah, I can't lie and say, Oh, no, I wanted to be in the first slot. Yeah, I think [singing last] is a good place to be. We had no say so in the matter. But I do think in our last performances, [Adam, Lil and I] all showed up at the same time, we took advantage of it. I think I messed up the most out of all of them. [EW: You had a lot of screen time. Did you ever feel the producers must really be in your corner?] Oh, I never did. I didn't think they liked me not that they didn't like me, I just thought I was really boring and uninteresting. I was very surprised to find out that I had the amount of screen time I had. I'm thankful for it. I think maybe they believe in me, they see something in me. Not that they don't see it in anyone else, but I feel honored, to say the least.
Lil Rounds (Sang last in group three): I felt like I was coming behind some great guys, and I'm just going to go out here and enjoy myself and hopefully America will feel what I'm singing and enjoy it with me. I was very nervous, but I got out there, took a deep breath, and I said let's do it. And it worked out.
What do you think about a Top 13 instead of a Top 12?
Lil Rounds: I'm excited! I think we made a little history here tonight.
Danny Gokey: I think American Idol did it right. When it got down to [Matt Giraud and Anoop Desai], how the heck do you split those two people up?
Adam Lambert: I think it's really exciting, because I think both Anoop and Matt are incredibly talented, and I'm glad they're both part of the crew this year. It was a surprise we had no idea. Our mouths just dropped open.
Matt Giraud: This is a bad bunch, man. Some of these cats are so talented. I'm just honored to be considered. That's how I feel right now.
Scott MacIntyre: That threw me for a loop. At first I thought [Simon] said ''Top 30,'' and that took me a few seconds to realize what was going on. I was like, ''Are we doing the whole [semi-final] process over again?!'' I think it's great. Actually, how are they going to fit that in the schedule? [EW: I don't know; I still haven't heard how that's going to work.] I'm waiting to find that out, too. We'll discover it together.
