Isabelle Huppert has gone through entire films without cracking a smile, so it's a surprise to see her give her lightest, warmest performance in years as a severe Paris judge looking into a multitentacled case of corporate corruption in Comedy of Power. The latest from Claude Chabrol is a serious examination of the Enron era, and as Huppert faces down witnesses, trying to unravel the case, we wait for a moment of revelation. It never arrives. Chabrol has fashioned a mystery that caves in on itself, but unfortunately, it caves in on the audience, too.
