Of Montreal's heads are deep in The Encyclopaedia Britannica, but their hearts are on the dance floor. With his arcane titles (''Heimdalsgate Like a Promethean Curse'') and lyrics about French literature and Greek mythology, singer-songwriter Kevin Barnes comes off like a hyperactive grad student; still, the band's playful musicality is undeniable. The serotonin blast of synths, falsetto vocals, and trippy playground beats on Hissing Fauna, Are You the Destroyer? is just the aural antidote for winter's coldest, darkest days.
