It looks like Team Henry has won over Team Walter on ABC's Ugly Betty. Christopher Gorham, who plays the loveable, shy Meade Publishing accountant, told EW: ''I'm in every episode for the rest of the season, and I'll be a series regular next year.''
ABC would not confirm, saying it's too early to comment on next year's scheduling.
Betty Executive Producer Silvio Horta, creator of the 2003 Sci-Fi show Jake 2.0, which starred Gorham, originally brought the actor on for only one episode. ''(He) called me up and was like, 'Would you come in and do this thing? We don't know what it's going be,' '' Gorham says. ''So I was like, 'Yeah, sure. Why not?' ''
Fortunately, the comedy turned into a giant, award-winning machine, and with that came a fan-base for Henry. ''I am completely taken by surprise,'' the 32-year-old admits. ''To have my character singled out within the success (of the show) is completely unexpected.''
So why does Gorham enjoy playing Betty's object of affection? ''There's just something about (Betty and Henry) that you really like them together, and they really like each other,'' he says. ''They're both comfortable in their own skin.'' And on the plus side, Gorham has the thumbs-up from his wife, Anel: ''My wife loves (Ugly Betty),'' he laughs. ''She loves seeing me in a relationship on screen with another Latina because she is, too.''
