The situation in Iraq is a mess. And this Situation, directed by Philip Haas (Angels & Insects), attempts to explain it from all sides, in an overstuffed, unengaging drama that makes time for a love triangle in which Anna (Connie Nielsen), an American journalist, shakes her blond hair out of her on-the-job head scarf after hours with a CIA man (Damian Lewis) and an Iraqi photographer (Mido Hamada). The script, by journalist Wendell Steavenson, shows the writer's training: Characters ''report'' their political positions while Anna looks on, powerless.
