Developed after studies discovered that even graduating high school students couldn't name or place all 50 states, It's a Big Big World Atlas is a fun book for grade-schoolers, full of kid-friendly, brightly colored graphics. Words are kept to a minimum and icons of animals and products provide basic economic information about each place. Unlike traditional atlases, with their pale pastel regions and untouchable artsiness, these maps are cartoonlike, and invite kids to draw on them with accompanying wipe-off crayons; the pages have a nontoxic coating that is safe for small kids who may want to lick or eat the pages while coloring. Best of all is the book's size: Open on the floor, it's big enough (32'' by 23'') for a kid to sit on. A
