Thank God this movie's on DVD, because when it ends you're going to want and need to watch it again. Directed by Batman Begins and Memento's Christopher Nolan, The Prestige confidently steals some of the latter's time-shifting complexity and turns it into a tale of science and magic in Victorian-era England, as two dueling magicians (Hugh Jackman and Christian Bale) play a revenge-fueled game of one-upmanship, culminating in an amazingly dark conclusion. EXTRAS Disappointing: only a series of short featurettes in lieu of a Nolan commentary track. A-
