John Lennon is fascinating. Nixon administration shenanigans are
fascinating. The intersection of the two in The U.S. vs. John Lennon, however, is merely diverting.
And while parallels to the current political climate are stimulating,
the U.S. government's attempts to deport Lennon make for a rather weak
documentary tentpole.
EXTRAS Some good bonus footage (especially from the childhood crony who says
Lennon's Aunt Mimi thought ''the sun shone out of his various orifices''),
but the text of a 1971 interview with John and Yoko is clumsily labeled
and not easily accessible.
