Myth Takes (2007)

In the best !!! tracks on Myth Takes, there comes a point where singer Nic Offer finally stops yakking, the octet locks into one of its irresistible rhythms, and the band really gets down to business. These guys are all about the groove, and when they're on — as on ''Bend Over Beethoven'' and ''Heart of Hearts'' — few can match their percussive intensity. Weaker are their attempts at actual songs, of which there are a few too many here: Offer isn't much of a singer, and their halfhearted stabs at melody are more often annoying than memorable.
