ANTIDOTE TO The CGI-enhanced relationship drama in Fantastic Four 2.
WHY WE'RE EXCITED Because Susan Minot's novel has been coadapted by The Hours' Michael Cunningham and we haven't seen a cast this impressive since...The Hours. Vanessa Redgrave, Toni Collette, Claire Danes, Glenn Close, Meryl Streep, and her real-life daughter Mamie Gummer all costar. Evening is the tale of a dying woman (Redgrave) reminiscing about a pivotal weekend spent in Rhode Island; Danes and Gummer play Redgrave's and Streep's characters in the flashbacks.
THE COSTARS SAY ''It's got this amazing, sprawling cast. And a lot happens. Relationships are created and broken. Tragedies occur,'' explains Danes. Plus, says Gummer, ''it's two movies in one!'' (June 29)
