Goya's Ghosts (2007)

Details Limited Release: Jul 20, 2007; Rated: R; Length: 113 Minutes; Genre: Drama; With: Javier Bardem and Natalie Portman; Distributor: Samuel Goldwyn Films

Milos Forman thinks 18th-century painter Francisco Goya is a ''totally amazing artist.'' And even though the 75-year-old director isn't keen on giving out details prematurely (''If you reveal the plot, you ruin the entertainment''), here's what we do know: This is not a biopic, work by the artist (Stellan Skarsgârd) is the backdrop for a larger message, and his muse is played by Natalie Portman. ''Goya was the most courageous coward because all of his courage is in his paintings,'' says Forman. ''What can I say? It's not a feel-good film, but a think-good film.'' And we think we feel good about that. (July 20)
