Shedding her oddball persona, Parker Posey (For Your Consideration) won over critics at Sundance as a complicated, post-Sex and the City single woman in this down-to-earth romance about a New Yorker (Posey) who goes to Paris to track down the man who stole her heart. Writer-director Zoe R. Cassavetes' impressive pedigree (her parents are director John Cassavetes and Broken costar Gena Rowlands) may have helped to get this understated project off the ground, but the movie is hoping to carve out a niche as a sleeper alternative to summer's glut of noisy spectacles.
