This indie-heavy set feels more like a budding hipster's iPod Shuffle playlist than a promotional tool for a big-budget popcorn flick like Spider-Man 3. A procession of underground heroes and major-label allies offer all-new songs that showcase their diverse superpowers: Black Mountain's burned-out bliss, Wolfmother's post-Zeppelin riffage, the Walkmen's louche charm, the Killers' synth-fueled bombast. They're not all keepers, but the best tunes are likely to stick in your head longer than the details of Peter Parker's latest adventure. B
