WHAT IT WAS
The 2005 single-camera sitcom, based on the 2000 best-seller from
culinary guru Anthony Bourdain, starred Bradley Cooper as bad-boy
chef Jack Bourdain, reigning over the wild staff at chic NYC restaurant
Nolita.
WHAT VIEWERS SAW
Fox yanked the series after airing only four of the 13 half-hour
episodes. That left just enough time to introduce pastry chef Seth's
crush on hostess Tanya (Jaime King), kitchen newbie Jim's attempts to
move up the food chain, and Jack's love/hate relationship with the
owner's daughter Mimi.
WHAT VIEWERS MISSED
Tanya falls for the innocent Jim much to Seth's dismay and Mimi is
promoted from head waitress to owner after blackmailing her father about
his mistress. In the finale, Jack's womanizing ways come to an end when
he falls for a rival chef during a prestigious culinary competition.
WORTH THE RESCUE?
Yes, if you've got a taste for sharp, risqué comedy. The unaired shows
let supporting players like Frank Langella and Harold & Kumar's John Cho
shine and Cooper makes Jack an appetizing antihero.
