How She Got the Part ''King of the World'' and Angel cocreator James Cameron and partner Charles Eglee selected Alba out of a thousand potential heavenly actresses. They were so impressed with her that they incorporated much of Alba's personality into the Max character.
Previous Jobs The short-lived 1995 syndicated series Flipper; roles in last year's Never Been Kissed and the slasher fest Idle Hands.
What Fame Has Brought ''The show has changed my life,'' says Alba. ''I get to go to work every day and do something I've been working towards my whole life.''
And What It Hasn't ''I still can't scale a building or beat people up without a little magic.''
What's Next Playing a Malaysian girl who falls in love with a British soldier in Fine Line's '20s-era drama The Sleeping Dictionary, due next spring.
