In 1988, a few graying buddies named Bob Dylan, George Harrison, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison, and Jeff Lynne tossed together an album on a whim. Two years later, they reunited, sans the late Orbison, to record another. The informal supergroup's output, now available on The Traveling Wilburys Collection (with a DVD) after being out of print for more than a decade, is hardly its members' most enduring work.
