Sammy's House (2007)

EW's GRADE
A

Details Release Date: Jul 11, 2007; Writer: Rosemary Mahoney; Genres: Memoir, Travel; Publisher: Little Brown & Company

In Sammy's House, a breezy follow-up to Kristin Gore's 2004 debut novel, Sammy's Hill, our heroine, Samantha Joyce, works in the White House as a health-care adviser to the vice president. All is well until the administration gets slammed with scandals involving a prescription drug bill and the long-sober prez falling off the wagon. Then Sammy's Washington Post reporter boyfriend moves to NYC. Though Sammy's perfectly-imperfect-woman shtick can start to feel stale — she jumps into the Potomac! she's jealous of a cat! — there's no doubt that the former veep's second daughter knows how to turn Washington shenanigans into a lighthearted, fun read.
