Last year, Julia Louis-Dreyfus earned a surprise Emmy for her performance as The New Adventures of Old Christine's divorced mom. Now she's in the running again, but this time the nomination for best actress in a comedy may feel like more of a consolation prize. The CBS sitcom — which saw a troubling 17 percent dip in viewership in its second season — received a truncated 13-episode order this year, and isn't even on the fall schedule. ''It's a little bit scary when you get shifted around,'' admits creator and exec producer Kari Lizer. ''It doesn't bode well. But we're powerless, so we can't stay pissed too long.'' Instead, Lizer's channeling her energy into pumping up season 3 by bringing back Andy Richter as ''sad dad'' divorcé Stan, and creating a new ally for Christine against her enemies, the ''Meanie Moms.'' As for CBS, entertainment president Nina Tassler insists that Louis-Dreyfus' Emmy nomination doesn't make the network feel foolish for holding Christine until midseason. ''It only validates our decision,'' she says. ''We're gonna keep it on the air.''
