Ah, the '90s nü-metal scene: dreadlocked singers, misogynistic
scream-raps, clanky bass lines. Yes, Korn are guilty as charged. This
perhaps was not lost on the band, which released an Unplugged CD in
March and briefly sought the help of producing trio the Matrix (Avril
Lavigne) for this intentionally untitled album. Still, diehards can
chill knowing the bulk of Korn's 12th release their best since 1999's
Issues continues to probe all things loud and sludgy. It's also
testament to their enduring philosophy that you can't spell rawk without
the raw. B+
