Tainted Love: Mating Calls and Fight Songs (2007)

Ambrosia Parsley has penned a host of seductive songs (notably ''Goodbye Moon'') with her band, Shivaree, but that hasn't dissuaded them from covering these offbeat romantic tracks — which yields uneven results. While her coy cooing suits R. Kelly's ''Half on a Baby,'' her solemn take on Michael Jackson's ''Don't Stop 'Til You Get Enough'' is just tiresome. Most of the remaining tunes on Tainted Love: Mating Calls and Fight Songs are pleasant enough for a quick spin, but they hardly have the makings of a long-term listening relationship. B
