Yet another brassy Southern sisterhood gets their Ya-Yas out in The Secret Lives of the Kudzu Debutantes, Cathy Holton's sequel to 2006's Revenge of the Kudzu Debutantes. Those same debs, now properly avenged and ensconced in new and/or improved romances, face a fresh set of problems: Artistically thwarted Eadie can't trust her newly successful novelist husband, nor find her own muse; Lavonne, a slenderized business woman, is a frightened bunny in the dog-eat-dog world of modern dating; and newlywed Nita must contend with her rebellious preteen daughter and Machiavellian ex-mother-in-law. Holton's Georgia peaches are sharp, witty, and warm; if only Kudzu's plot didn't involve so many transparent machinations. B
