THE NEW ORLEANS JAZZ AND HERITAGE FESTIVAL
In 2007, close to 375,000 fans showed up for the legendary two-weekend
Jazz Fest celebration. The next one kicks off April 25, 2008.
THE VOODOO MUSIC EXPERIENCE
An annual outdoor music festival, which returns Oct. 26-28. This year
nearly 100 artists will play City Park, including Rage Against the
Machine and Smashing Pumpkins.
TIPITINA'S
This popular uptown club escaped major damage, so its eclectic lineup of
jazz, brass, and even alt-rock bands has been back since a few months
after the storm.
PRESERVATION HALL
Top-tier jazz musicians have blown through this French Quarter venue for
almost 50 years. Also mostly unscathed by the storm, it features
authentic Big Easy jazz four nights a week.
MOTHER-IN-LAW LOUNGE
The offbeat (and off-the-beaten-path) shrine to late R&B singer Ernie
K-Doe is run by his wife. The Lounge has erratic hours, so be forewarned.
