This super-pairing could have been a best-of-both-worlds coup: The St.
Louis-born Ali has spent years as one of Nelly's fun-loving sidekicks,
while Gipp is a longtime OutKast pal and a member of pioneering Atlanta
group Goodie Mob. Yet neither Ali nor Gipp has even a fraction of their
more famous associates' charisma. Competent though clichéd lyricists,
they frequently rap as if they're on the verge of dozing off and given
the flat, uninspired production that dominates their Kinfolk, it's hard to
blame them. C
