As frontman of Heavy Trash, Jon Spencer flexes a less outré version of his previous punk-with-a-pompadour shtick. The band's sophomore CD (Going Way Out With Heavy Trash) contains the straightest garage-blues nuggets he's ever sung: ''She Baby'' walks the line between country and rock, while ''Crazy Pritty Baby'' would not sound out of place on oldies radio. Still, the man hasn't gone totally soft. ''I Want Oblivion'' finds him admitting, ''I wanna suck my brain out my eyeball.'' But these days, he'd probably clean up afterward. B-
