I Walked the Line (2007)

EW's GRADE
B

Details Release Date: Sep 04, 2007; Writer: Vivian Cash; Genres: Memoir, Music; Publisher: Scribner

In her posthumous memoir, I Walked the Line, Johnny Cash's first wife, Vivian Cash (with the help of Ann Sharpsteen), counters the decades-long veneration of June Carter, whom she considered a brazen husband stealer and drug abuser. She also alleges that Johnny, not June, wrote ''Ring of Fire'' — about a certain female body part!

Bottom Line
Viv's pained version of events depicted in Walk the Line deserves a hearing. But not the hundreds of love letters she includes. B
