8-9 PM · CBS · Returns Sept. 25
Going into season 5, says producer Shane Brennan, ''one of our big stars is in very serious danger. There's a major explosion and someone is killed. It's pretty shocking.'' Wow so, who? No spoiler from Brennan. One person it won't be is Mark Harmon's Gibbs. Harmon is presumably happier now that show creator Don Bellisario, with whom the star reportedly clashed, is no longer the showrunner. While not commenting on that directly, Brennan, who steps up to exec producer in his second year on the series, says Harmon's terse Gibbs will open up and reveal more about his past. ''Our 100th episode comes this season, and...it'll be a fairly emotional episode.'' Just a guess: It'll be revealed in the 100th that gray-haired Gibbs is 100 years old, but really, really well-preserved?
