When portraying someone with a mental disorder, there's a fine line between inspired (Dustin Hoffman in Rain Man) and inexplicable (Rosie O'Donnell in Riding the Bus With My Sister). Sigourney Weaver playing a manic high-functioning autistic woman who loses her daughter in a car crash falls somewhere in between. There's the usually sarcastic Alan Rickman's subtle turn as a grieving accident survivor, but even he can't save Snow Cake from its inherent insipidness. EXTRAS Ten deleted scenes that, for once, probably should have been in the film. C+
