Upon discovering he's terminally ill with cancer, Griffin (Dermot Mulroney) falls in love with the icy Phoenix (Amanda Peet), who — if you can believe it — is also dying of cancer. If it sounds like a made-for-TV movie, it practically is: After playing the 2006 Toronto Film Festival, Griffin & Phoenix skipped theaters and premiered on Lifetime last fall. With its tear-jerking soundtrack and treacly script, this remake of the 1976 Peter Falk -- Jill Clayburgh vehicle relies on the premise that do-before-you-die activities constitute reality. At least Mulroney and Peet are convincingly sorrowful. EXTRAS None. C
