SPLIT
Brokeback Mountain costars Heath Ledger, 28, and Michelle Williams, 27,
have reportedly ended their three-year relationship. The pair have a
1-year-old, Matilda Rose.
EXPECTING
According to Access Hollywood, Oscar winner Halle Berry (Perfect
Stranger), 41, and her boyfriend, model Gabriel Aubry, 31, will welcome
their first child in March.
SUSPENDED
On Aug. 30, World Wrestling Entertainment suspended 10 unidentified
wrestlers who it said violated its ''wellness policy.'' Under the policy,
performers are tested for illegal substances and conditions including
heart stress. The action comes nearly 10 weeks after WWE star Chris
Benoit killed his wife and son before taking his own life. Steroids were
found at the scene.
COURTS
Former child actor Brian Bonsall (Family Ties), 25, pleaded guilty on
Aug. 31 in Boulder, Colo., to assaulting his girlfriend. Bonsall was
sentenced to two years' probation.... On Aug. 30 in NYC, the family of
late reggae singer Bob Marley announced plans to sue Universal Music
Group and Verizon Wireless for using Marley's image to promote a new set
of ringtones. The family claim they never approved the deal. In a
statement, Universal Music Group called the claims ''meritless.''
CONTROVERSY
On Sept. 4, comedian Jerry Lewis, 81, apologized for using an antigay
slur during his annual Labor Day Telethon for the Muscular Dystrophy
Association the day before in Las Vegas. ''I obviously made a bad choice
of words,'' Lewis said in a statement.
RESIGNED
Valentino Garavani, 75 who has designed Oscar gowns worn by actresses
like Sophia Loren, Kate Winslet, and Julia Roberts announced on Sept. 4
that he will step down in January as head of the Valentino fashion house
he created 45 years ago.
DEATHS
Jeffrey Carter Albrecht, 34, a keyboardist for Edie Brickell & New
Bohemians, was shot dead on Sept. 3 in Dallas. Police say Albrecht was
trying to kick in the door of a house reportedly next to that of his
girlfriend. The neighbor believed a burglar was breaking in and fired a
shot. The case is under investigation, and no arrests have been made....
Hilly Kristal, 75, musician and founder of legendary rock club CBGB, of
complications from lung cancer, Aug. 28, in NYC.... Actor José Luis de
Vilallonga (Breakfast at Tiffany's), 87, of undisclosed causes, Aug. 30,
in Andratx, Spain.... John Gardner, 80, author of 16 novels in the James
Bond series, of undisclosed causes, Aug. 3, in Basingstoke, England....
Costume designer Michael Woulfe, 89, who outfitted Ava Gardner and

The Venice International Film Festival
The gathering's 64th edition (Aug. 29-Sept. 8) celebrated a strong
lineup, with Woody Allen's Cassandra's Dream and Brad Pitt's The
Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford earning high
praise. While The Darjeeling Limited star Owen Wilson didn't attend,
director Wes Anderson told reporters, ''He's been through a lot this week, but

Road Trip of the Week
After a rough summer that saw her cancel a proposed arena tour due to
poor ticket sales, Kelly Clarkson is back. The singer who spent the last
few months promoting her third album, My December, dealing with the
fallout from her public spat with label chief Clive Davis, and parting
with her manager will hit the road this fall with a scaled-back 25-city
tour of smaller venues. The trek, which kicks off Oct. 10 in Verona,
N.Y., includes a nearly sold-out run at New York's Beacon Theatre, and
closes at Nashville's Ryman Auditorium on Dec. 3. Said Clarkson on her
website: ''I'm getting pumped to get out there and rock with y'all. We
