The French Connection Detroit 9000 ain't, but this 1973 blaxploitation flick about two cops, one black (Rhodes), one white (Rocco), investigating a racially charged jewel heist is fast-paced and gritty, with the fringe benefits of funky outfits and cartoonish violence. Overlook the stone-faced acting and the laughable dialogue or better yet, appreciate them. B-
