HBO's adaptation of Dee Brown's book is another example of the prestigious yet conventional epics that the channel now churns out in its sleep. Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee illuminates how Sitting Bull (a ferocious August Schellenberg) and his tribe were herded onto reservations set up by a do-gooder senator (Adrian Quinn) and his Dartmouth-trained Sioux assistant (Adam Beach). EXTRAS By-the-numbers featurettes are balanced out by the earnest commentary of Quinn and Beach, a Saulteaux Indian who offers many edifying insights. B
