CHAPTER 17: COMPANY MAN
Plot Ted and Matt's siege on the Bennets' house is intercut with black-and-white flashbacks that reveal scenes from HRG's backstory — his partnership with Claude, his adoption of Claire, and his promise to return her if she ever exhibited powers. In present day, Matt, having read her mind and learning she could heal, shoots Claire to prevent a whacked-out Ted from shooting her mother. Ted later goes nuclear after he's shot and Claire is the only one who can safely get close enough to subdue him.
Best Moment Claire's healing transformation from charbroiled back to normal (with just a touch of soot) during her walk out of her house after tranquilizing Ted.
Critique Despite a nagging point or two (why didn't Matt just make Bennet tell him the truth while they were driving to and from the paper factory headquarters?) and the absence of Hiro, this episode's insight into HRG make it an essential one for fans.
