NEW BUFFALO
Who She Is Buffalo is Australian indie-folk sweetheart Sally Seltmann, 32. While she's best known for ''1234,'' the infectious hit she wrote for Feist, her second solo CD, Somewhere, Anywhere, offers even more idiosyncratic gems.
Why She's Exciting The singer easily earns a spot on the continuum of eclectic, nightingale-voiced female performers, falling somewhere between Dido's melodic mainstream appeal and the tricky instrumentations of indie-popster St. Vincent. Setting herself apart from her peers, Seltmann offers a collection of breezy ballads that employ, among other instruments, a 100-year-old piano and a computer. ''I used to only write songs on piano and guitar,'' she says. ''Then I learned how to use [the music-production software] Pro Tools. I love to combine the two the folk and the electronic worlds.''
