JONI MITCHELL Back in a jazzy mood on Shine

Joni Mitchell's first album of (mostly) new material in nine years is reminiscent of a chapter from the singer-songwriter's past not her famous, acoustic balladeering Blue period but her subsequent, jazzier albums. Delicate overture ''One Week Last Summer'' could be an outtake from 1977's underrated Don Juan's Reckless Daughter, while the clattering ''Night of the Iguana'' calls to mind her peerless 1976 release, Hejira. And if anyone is going to do a pleasant-if-pointless revamp of ''Big Yellow Taxi,'' it might as well be the woman who wrote it.
